Evanescent Grace is an avant-garde headpiece collection consisting of 8 designs, built up of recycled & sustainable materials, like newspaper and HDPE plastic bags.

‘Everything that seems beautiful to the eye first might, in fact, be tragic in reality’ are the words from our beloved natural historian and BBC legend David Attenborough. He released a documentary on April 12, 2020, in collaboration with Netflix, exploring and discussing the monumental scale of humanity’s impact on nature, speaking about the past, present and future of planet Earth. The inspiration for given FMP comes from the aforementioned movie where they briefly debate coral reefs dying due to global warming which is the main inspiration for the final creations.

This project explores the relationship between life and death to question if everything you see is as beautiful as it seems. The aforementioned will be showcased via the process of a dying coral that turns completely white due to the raised sea temperature, which starts glowing in this state. This process is called coral bleaching.
Visually, not knowing what it really means, a bleached coral may trick the viewer and lead to a misconception of seeing allure in this purity of white glow. However, this process is just the final stage for a coral before it dies.

Nature has played a major part in the life of the project's Creative Director, hence why she wanted to produce something visually pleasing yet convey a critical social message through it.

Chosen medium is an online exhibition to make the art accessible to everybody around the globe. The star of the exhibition is a short fashion film narrating the symbiosis between the designs and the visuals. Below can be seen selected content from the exhibition.

A set design consisting of a number of life-size boxes was built for the editorial video shoot. The shoot itself took place during the pandemic and lockdowns, in a massive black box studio, to ensure health and safety measures for the team. Photos were taken by a photographer @z.o.lo.t.o.
